Master Chief Hudson graduated from Paradise
High School in Paradise, Calif., and enlisted in the United States Navy in
June of 1981.
His initial training included recruit training
in San Diego, Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Conn., Strategic
Weapons Advanced Electronics "A" School, and Trident I(C4)
Missile Technician "C" School in Dam Neck, Va.
Hudson reported to his first submarine, USS
Francis Scott Key (SSBN 657)(Gold), home ported in Charleston, S.C., in
August of 1983. During his tour, he completed a two-year major overhaul,
five strategic deterrent patrols, and was advanced to petty officer first
class. He detached in December of 1988.
After his first sea tour, he returned to
Recruit Training Command in San Diego for recruit company commander duty.
He led five recruit companies and graduated six recruit company commander
classes. He was advanced to chief petty officer in September 1991.
After completing the Trident II (D5) Missile
Technician conversion course, he reported to his second submarine, USS
Kentucky (SSBN 737) (Blue), home ported in Kings Bay, Ga., in March of
1993. He served as the weapons department leading chief petty officer,
completed seven strategic deterrent patrols, and was advanced to senior
chief petty officer. He detached in December of 1996.
After his second sea tour, he reported to
Trident Training Facility, Kings Bay, Ga., for instructor duty. He served
as strategic weapons training department leading chief petty officer and
detached in October of 1999.
Hudson graduated from the Senior Enlisted
Academy, Newport, R.I., with honors in December of 1999 and reported to
his third Submarine, USS Wyoming (SSBN 742), (Blue) as chief of the boat. He was advanced to master chief petty officer in March of
2000. Master Chief Hudson was
selected as the Submarine League, Frank Lister Award recipient for
outstanding Chief of the Boat of the year 2000/2001.
Master Chief Hudson's personal decorations
include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the
Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), the Battle
Efficiency ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal (four awards), the National
Defense Medal, the Sea Service ribbon (two awards), the Expert Rifle Medal
and the Sharpshooter Pistol award. |
